About your license to Semiologic Pro

0

Sites based on Semiologic Pro (SemPro) require a license. Most of our services include the SemPro license as part of the package.

When we purchase your license for you, you will receive a message from support@semiologic.com thanking you for your business. You can safely ignore that message. You will also receive a message from Expert Web Support that provides your login credentials and refers you to this page for more information. PLEASE save the message from us, and treat it confidentially.

You may use the Semiologic license on any number of your own websites. You may not use it on somebody else's site. See the Semiologic site for the legal details.

The Semiologic license is activated by a "Semiologic API key". You can see what your key is by going to the back end of your site and selecting "Semiologic API key" under Settings. That page also tells you when your key will expire. The key entitles you to all upgrades that appear. If you let your subscription expire, you will no longer receive free upgrades. You may continue to use the platform as is for as long as you wish; you just won't get upgrades. I encourage you to keep your subscription current and upgrade regularly. Annual renewal is $175.

The Semiologic license provides access to the "members" area of the Semiologic website. The URL is http://www.semiologic.com/members/sem-pro/. You will be asked for username and password to enter the site. These are the credentials that we sent you when we purchased your license. Your username is probably admin@yourdomain.com (substituting your domain for "yourdomain", of course.)

You probably won't need these credentials until next year when you renew your subscription.

Even more details that you only need if you're very curious.

Q: Why is my username "admin@yourdomain.com" instead of my regular email address?
A: Many of our customers ask us for help with stuff like this. By convention, we set up admin@yourdomain.com to forward to your normal email address and to admin@expertwebsupport.com. That way, we both know if something is about to happen to your site. Sort of "belt and suspenders".

Q: Can I change my password on this site?
A: Yes, you can. Log in and select the Profile link. You'll be able to change pwd there. If you do, please tell us that you made a change or we won't be able to help you with your Semiologic business in the future.

Q: What determines whether a site is "mine" for purposes of the license?
A: As I read it, it's sort of fuzzy. Certainly, if you have a personal site and a business site, or more than one business site, it's fine. I think that if you and your wife both have sites, that's OK. But you should read the terms of the license on the Semio site if you want more info.
