BackupBuddy is a comprehensive backup, restore, and migration tool. We provide BackupBuddy to all of our customers because we believe that every site requires a regular backup schedule. This page describes our policy on backups.

About BackupBuddy

BackupBuddy has two standard modes: Full, and Database only. A full backup saves the entire WordPress installation folders, including themes, plugins, resources (e.g. images, documents) uploaded by content authors, and the WordPress database containing posts, pages, and settings. A “database only” backup saves only the WordPress database.

BackupBuddy can be configured to run automatically on a defined schedule.

It can be configured to send the backup files to external storage locations. Our license to BackupBuddy includes access to a cloud storage service provided by iThemes (“Stash”).

XWS policy

  • Live “Done for you” client sites – Our default configuration is a daily database backup and a weekly full backup; both sent automatically to Stash.
  • Development “Done for you” client sites – Default configuration: weekly database backup; monthly full backup; both sent automatically to Stash.
  • “Do it yourself” client sites – Default configuration: weekly database backup; monthly full backup; both sent automatically to Stash.

Contact support at XWS if you would like to change your settings. You can see your settings in your WordPress back end at BackupBuddy > Schedules and BackupBuddy > Remote Destinations.

Customer specific info

  • NLPCO – We are not doing automated full backups for www.nlpco.com. The backup is currently too big to be run automatically.
